Every new blogger who starts blogging is very keen to join Google Adsense Program. Although there are many other ad network like AdSense to make money from blogging but he will prefer to join Adsense program.

There are many reasons for it. For example, Adsense is very trusted and most popular program on the Internet. Secondly, it is easier to make money with it compared to other ad network or affiliate marketing.

However, for past few years Google has made it very tough to get an approval for an Adsense account. Nowbloggers from India do not get approval so easily.

They cannot have a blog or website with one or two pages and expect Google to approve it for Adsense account.

Hence, if you are a blogger and want to get approved by Google then you have to look at least 10 following things in your blog.

If you’re sure of these 10 things, only then you should go ahead with Adsense program.

1. Content, Content and Content

The first thing that you should have is great content. If you cannot create great content then at least it must be good enough to read.

If you think that putting up a blog or website with 2 to 3 pages of copied or rewritten content can get you an approval then you’re totally wrong.

Because you won’t!

Content must be original and not plagiarize from here and there because Google is very strict about copied content.

Therefore before you apply for Adsense accounts consider that your blog’s content is original and good to read.

2. Your Website Domain

Now the next thing is the domain of your website. Google is very strict for blogger coming especially from countries like India and China.

According to Google’s policy your domain should be at least 6 months old. However, if you are a blogger from USA or UK then you could get an approval in few weeks.

But for India this is not the case because bloggers here are not professional and just want to fool Google.

Moreover, your domain must be of top level like .com, .in, .co, .edu, me etc. It should not be a sub domain.

3. Design of Your Blog or Website

Design of your blog should be simple and free from any plug-ins or software that is integrated to get extra clicks.

If Google finds that design of your blog is not according to their terms and conditions then they might turn down your request for Adsense approval.

Choose templates and layout of your blog which is very professional and free from any malware.

After content of your blog Google looks for its design.

Hence, before you apply for an Adsense account see to it that design of your blog is perfect.

4. Third Party Ad Networks

You should be very careful about integrating third party ads into your blog. Although Google allows having ads from other networks but Google is very touchy about this issue.

If you have other ad networks running on same blog then you must be careful and concur with Google’s policy.

If you are found to be violating Google’s policy on showing third party ads then Google might not approve your request.

Therefore, it is better to go only for Adsense program first then you can choose other network’s ads.

5. Terms and Conditions of Google

You should read every point before you apply for Adsense account. There are many small things that you need to know.

6. Intentional or Unintentional Clicking Ads

As you all know in Adsense program you get paid when someone clicks on your ads. More clicks mean more money you make.

It is because of this system many bloggers try to get clicks which are generated by them or with the help of their friends. This is totally illegal and the moment Google comes to know they are going to terminate your account.

Therefore you should place only 3 ads on one page. Your ads must look normal as it does not try out to pop-out and irritate the readers.

Place your ads naturally and focus more on creating good content.

8. Privacy Policy, About Me & Contact Us Page

Do not overlook the importance of about me and contact us page in addition to your blog’s privacy policy.

Create a full blown about me and contact us page. Describe fully about the privacy policy of your blog also.

Before you apply for an Adsense account approval your blog must met these conditions.

9. Practicing Unscrupulous Methods to Get Clicks

I need to repeat this point again and again. Do not indulge in any malpractice to get clicks which are illegal in the eyes of Google.

If you want an approval then you need to play by the rules of Google.

It is quite normal that bloggers instead of focusing on creating good content they indulge in such malpractices.

Hence, does not applying if you’re not ready to play by the rules set by Google.

10. Only One Pay Check for a House Address

This trivial but an important thing that only allows check in the name of only one person for a house address.

It means two Google checks cannot come to one house address. To make it simpler only one person from your home can apply for Adsense program.

Two accounts with same address are not allowed by Google.

Thus, these were 10 things that you have to keep in mind before you think of applying for an Adsense account.

12 Reasons You Are Not Eligible to Apply for Adsense Account

Do you have an Adsense Account? If your answer is no, then you might need to worry.

If you have not tried yet for an account then it is ok. However if you have sent the request for an approval and Google had rejected it then you have to think what is wrong with your blog or website.

Earlier getting an approval from Google was quite easy. I mean to say 5 years back the terms and conditions were pretty relaxed. Just like you create a Gmail account & there is no approval needed to get a Gmail account, there was no need for getting an approval for AdSense. Creating an AdSense account was instant.

However, now Google has become very stringent when it comes to approving an Adsense account. If you want to make money with Adsense then you need to be very serious about blogging and all other its aspects.

I remember when I first time applied for an ad sense account I was rejected. It was in 2009. I know many people whose blogs are still not accepted by Google for an Adsense account.

But after doing some research and hard work, I changed the way my blog was designed. I tweaked a lot and finally got an approval from AdSense.

It took at least 6 months to work on my blog before I got the approval. But Google has become more strict than in 2009 for Adsense approval.

After giving AdSense training to number of people through my SEO training site, I’ve got a few lessons that I want to share with you.

I have jot down a list of reasons because of which you might not getting approved by the Google.

Here are they-

1. Domain of the Website

The first and foremost thing that you have to consider is the domain name for your blog and website. It is recommended to take .com over any other domain type.

If you are taking .in, .co, .tv then Google might take notice of it. However as a new blogger it is suggested that you have a domain with .com. Then next thing is the EMD or exact match domain.

You must avoid choosing a domain name that exactly matches your blog’s niche or title. In recent years SEO experts have noticed that Google had penalized EMD websites.

Hence, EMD are not good for SEO purposes. So keep domain name simple and close to your niche but don’t make it exactly similar.

2. Domain Age

If you are a new blogger who just purchased a domain & hosting then as per the Google’s policy, you have to wait for 6 months to get the approval. It means your domain age should be more than 6 months (specially in India) before you are eligible to apply for AdSense.

But this is not always true. No one can’t wait for 6 months. I have seen many of my students has got the approval with in 1-3 months of starting their blog.

3. Website Design

Next important factor that is an obstacle for getting an Adsense account is the design of your website. Bloggers usually complicate the design of their blog.

Your design must be simple and not cluttered with fancy gadgets or widgets. The most important thing is the navigation of your blog. Google would see to it that the navigation of your blog is intuitive to your readers.

Moreover, do not use codes which are malicious and done for SEO purposes. Choose the templates and other design features which are simple.

In simpler words, I want to say don’t try to trick Google.

4. Content – Quality & Quantity

The third factor why Google is not approving your Adsense account is the content of your blog.

See, you cannot have one or two pages on your website and expect Google to approve your account. Google needs content which is new and people would love to read it.

Next, do not copy content and put on your website. You need original or unique content and that too in good quantity.

Therefore, you have to post daily on your blog. Only then you could expect Google to approve your Adsense account.

Hence, quality and quantity of content both are important for an approval here.

5. Number of Visitors

The fourth factor for getting your account approved is the number of visitors. You need to get some visitors on to your blogs.

Yes, you cannot get thousands of visitors while you have just started your blog. However, Google expects some movement in your blog.

You have to get at least 100 to 200 visitors daily to read your blog. If your blog is not getting any visits then Google would definitely turn down your Adsense account approval.

So try to get at least few visitors before you apply for an approval. Well! In our days it was quite easier.

6. Contact Us, About Me & Privacy Policy Page

Earlier it was OK to overlook these pages on the website. However, now Google takes them seriously.

If you’ve not incorporated both of these pages into your blog then this could be a reason for Google to reject your application for Adsense account.

Every new blogger must have these pages. Both of these pages help to establish your credibility that you are a genuine person out there.

Hence, Google takes it very seriously. So have a well written About Me page and you would get an approval from Google.

7. Age Verification and Home Address

This is a trivia however still an important thing for Google. You must be above 18 before you apply for the Adsense account.

Although, Google is not going to come to your home and verify it but you should be above 18. Next is the address of your home.

You must know that there is only one account for one address. Hence you cannot have two accounts running on one address.

So keep this in mind and give right address before you apply for approval.

8. Type of Content

Earlier we mentioned about the quality and quantity of the content. However, you also need to know that Google does not except every kind of content.

If you are blogging on content which is sexually explicit like pornography, selling products which promote drugs or alcoholism, hate and violence towards other race, religion, community or country then Google would definitely turn down your blog for Adsense.

You could have a blog on all these things but you will never get ads from Google to show on your blog. Therefore, do not blog about things which might get you a lot of visitors quickly but you will not have an Adsense account to make money out of it.

9. Genuine or Paid Traffic

Next, big reason why Google has not approved your account yet is paid traffic. Google does not like paid traffic. In fact, Google would slap you if your traffic is paid.

You cannot pay to an online company like PTC sites for getting the traffic on to your new blog. Traffic that you generate on your blog must be genuine and build slowly.

If you use black hat SEO methods then Google is not going to approve your blog for an Adsense account. A genuine traffic is the one which you get over the period of time very slowly through organic searches.

Therefore, you have to make a distinction between Genuine and paid traffic.

10. Other Ads Network

You need to be very careful about ads from other networks. Although Google does allow you to place ads from other networks but if you are a new blogger and applying for Adsense account for the first time then you should not place ads from other networks.

Your website or blog should be free from ads of other networks. It will help Google to approve your account quickly otherwise Google might turn down your request.

After Adsense account approval you would be free to place ads from other networks.

11. Adsense Policy

Before applying for an approval you must have read Google’s Adsense policy entirely. You must be familiar with Google’s every terms and conditions.

You need to implement all of these conditions in to your blog. Therefore, I recommend you to read Google’s Adsense Policy completely before you apply for an approval.

Yes, I know it is tiresome to read however you must do it.

12. Content Against US National Interest

Finally, the last reason that might piss off Google would be content that is written against US and its national Interest.

I would love to give an example. Few years back I wrote a blog post about how US is helping Israel to take down Iran’s nuclear program.

Although, there was nothing in the blog against the US national interest but Google refused to show ads on that particular post.

It is because my Adsense account was already approved and ads were showing on all other blog posts but on this particular post, ads were not showing.

Hence, there is a lesson for a new blogger that you should not have content which is targeting US and its national interest.

So these were 12 reasons why you might not be eligible for an Adsense account. If you work on these 12 reasons then you could get an approval from Google very easily.

How Much Money You Can Make From Google AdSense?

Google AdSense has become very popular among Indian bloggers. If you want to make money online then AdSense program is the best one to start with. It has earned the reputation of the most trusted program among bloggers and publishers around the world. Hence, if you are a new blogger then you could start benefitting from this program.

However, getting approved for an AdSense account is not that easy now. You have to be very careful and smart enough to see your eligibility for AdSense. Google looks for genuine bloggers & not the fake one.

Therefore, there is a potential for making money with AdSense. But how much money could you make and what are those factors that you need to consider before you start blogging?

Well! Guys, as a matter of fact bloggers are making hell lot of money with this program. Publishers around the world have used and even abused this program to make enough money that would blow your mind.

It depends upon the kind of publisher you are. I usually divide publishers in four categories

1. Heavy Weight Publishers– These are literally publishers not bloggers. It means they are companies with writers working for them. These publishing house hire writers as many as 100 to 500 to write for them.

They create huge content every day on every single possible topic. Some of their examples are ehow.com,about.com, ezine.com. These are websites that make hell lot of money with AdSense program.

Approximate Income could be $500,000 to $10,00,000+ per month

2. Medium Weight Publishers – Then there are publishers which run blogs that are smaller relatively to previous one. They also hire writers however their number is very small and they could be 10 to 30 at maximum.

They write about only few selected topics and make money from them. Examples are tech blogs likeGigaom.com, salon.com, zdnet.com etc

There approximate income could be $300,000 to $500,000 per month.

3. Top Bloggers – Then there are individuals bloggers who run there blogs without having a team. They do it alone and update their blog regularly.

Bloggers like labnol.org, problogger.net etc.

Their approximate income is around $20,000 to $50,000 per month.

4. Mediocre Bloggers – Finally there are bloggers which are very average and don’t make money like top bloggers. Their number around the world is more than 1 million.

They blog about different topics like technology, blogging, music, sports, business etc.

They make around $2000 to $6000 per month.

There are bloggers which are not able to earn more than $500 to $1000 per month. They are struggling and want to work their way up. Some of them succeed and some fail.

So you have to decide which kind of blogger you want to be.

If You are New and Confused then How Much You Could Make Money with Your Blog in Future

It is quite normal that a blogger who has just started his blogging career do not make enough amount of money.

In fact, as a matter of fact many quit because they could not make it. But if you are persistent with your work then there is a room for success.

However, when you start, don’t expect much. A new blogger struggles to make even as little as $100 per month. In fact, in first few months you would not make even a penny.

So don’t expect any money while you start. There is a perception that blogging is very easy and you could make money instantly but the reality is quite opposite.

But if you keep working for at least 6 months then you could expect a breakthrough.

After six months you could make $100 to $300 per month.

A year later $800 to $1000 per month

Two Years later $2000 to $6000 and that is what an average blogger makes.

How Can You Calculate Your Approximate Income

Well! A new blogger has to plan; if you don’t then you might fail. Therefore, you have to prepare a chart for your average daily income when you start your new blog.

Your income totally depends upon the traffic that you receive on your blog. Hence, you have to do some maths here.

1^st Month = 100 Page Views and CTR = 2%, CPC = $.25, then Daily Income = 50 Cents & Monthly Income = $15

But in coming months if you work hard then you could turn around the table.

6^th Month = 1000 Page Views and CTR = 3%, CPC = $.50, then Daily Income = $15 & Monthly Income = $450

In a year you could reach up to

12^th Month = 4000 Page Views and CTR = 4%, CPC = $.75, then Daily Income = $120 & Monthly Income = $3600

Thus you work your way up with getting more traffic. You could easily make up to $6000 to $10,000 per month in couple of years. More than the income you would make from your day job.

*CPC depends upon country to country. In this example I am assuming the country is USA, in India, it could be half, so income would also be half.

Topics and Niche for Your New Blog

However, before you dream of making that much amount of money every month you have to do certain things in a right way. First is choosing a niche for your blog.

You have to blog about a topic which is very close to you and you know everything about it. The topic must be your hobby or you had some experience with it.

Many bloggers who start blogging, choose social media, make money online etc as their niche.

Hence you have to decide a niche because it could make or break your blogging career. Some of the niche for a new blogger could be

2. Marketing, Social Media
3. Travel Blog
4. Entertainment
5. Health and Beauty
6. Entertainment, Music and films
7. Food blog etc
8. Sports News
9. Finance & Investment tips
10. And many topics you can imagine…

So choose the niche that you like the most.

Target Your Location and Audience

You need to know your audience very well. If your blog has to generate a good income then you should know your audience.

You have to figure out whether your audience would be in India or USA. If they are from USA then you make a lot of money.

If your audience resides in metropolitan cities then you have to write about things that happen there. Moreover, you also have to consider things like their age, occupation and education. Knowing their demographics is very important.

Your blog should include things that revolve around their daily life. It would help you to relate with them and increase your traffic and income.

Visitors and Page Views

The next factor that could affect your blogging income is the number of visitors you get every day. Regarding your visitors, you need to know that they must be of high quality.

It means they must have purchasing power. Therefore ensure that your every visitor is educated and comes from a city.

Moreover, to increase your page views you have to reduce the bounce rate. Visitors must not leave the website instantly, they have to stay on your blog.

Usually, 1 visit makes 2 to 2.5 page views. So if there are 1000 visitors then page views would be 2000 to 2500.

In short, try to get as many as unique visitors and reduce the bounce rate.

Source of Visit

Analyze from where you are receiving your traffic. It could be search engines, social media and even direct traffic.

You must try to get as much as traffic from search engines because your 90% of the traffic would come from organic searches. So you need to do little bit of SEO here.

Similarly you should also try your best to get traffic from other sources like Social media and guest blogging.

However, if you are an established blogger then you should not rely on Google or any other platform because direct traffic is the way to go forward.

Ad Placement

Placing your ads at right spots is important if you want to make money with AdSense. You are expected not to break any rules by clicking on those ads by you.

Place ads in such a way that it mingles with the content. Your readers shouldn’t be able to make out that it is an ad.

Do not clutter your blogs with too many ads. Place ads in between your content but not too much. Only three ads are allowed to show on one single page.

So place your ads wisely.

CTR and CPC

CTR and CPC is the lifeline for a blogger who is using AdSense program. As days past, you have to increase your Click Through Rates and more importantly Cost Per Click.

Initially, your CPC would not be more than 10 cents but you have to work hard and make it up to 30 to 40 cents for one click. If your CPC is not increasing then you will not be able to generate the income through blogging that you expected.

Plan B If You Fail

It is my responsibility to tell you what happens if you fail in blogging or with AdSense. Because it is not something that could never happen. In fact, most of the bloggers fail.

So if you are not finding a way forward in blogging then you could quit. This is not the end of the world. You could continue doing what you were doing earlier.

Don’t leave your day job when you start blogging. You could blog in your spare time also.
